“In order to look forward, we have to bring younger people into Kiwanis. Young people can bring their concept of what the world will look like.”

-Oscar Knight, Fmr District Governor and Current International Trustee

                    The CAYP difference

By showing you a comparison between a Young Professional club and a traditional Kiwanis Club you will see what we are all about:

                     Traditional Kiwanis Club:
                    1. Meets once a week (in person)
                    2. Fines at meetings
                    3. Focuses on Perfect Attendance
                    4. Mandatory high cost meals at meetings
                    5. Communication of info in person
                    6. High cost Dues
                    7. Money Club (Service done with money)
                    8. Limited Hands on projects
                    9. Reflects a past generation
                    10. Sponsors multiple clubs

                    Young Professional Kiwanis Club:

                    1. Meets twice a month (online and cocktail Happy Hour meeting)
                    2. No fines at meetings
                    3. No worries on perfect attendance
                    4. Optional low cost meals at meetings (when we actually meet)
                    5. Communication of info mostly online
                    6. Low cost Dues
                    7. Hands on service (physical)
                    8. More hands on projects for more flexibility
                    9. Reflects today’s generation
                    10. Stays involved to help Circle K college clubs

How often does the club meet and how would communication be conducted?
                    1. Twice a month (not mandatory… that is why we focus on online info)
                    2. One meeting being “Cocktail/Happy Hour” meeting. These “Happy Hour” meetings can be held anywhere and can even be in multiple places at once. That is why membership can be open to the entire state of California.
                    3. Contact with members would be through online resources (E-mail, website, chat rooms, etc…)

                    Benefits of being a Kiwanian
                    1. Credibility to your friends and co-workers in being part of a well-known organization.
                    2. Looks excellent on a job resume (adult professional club) when job searching
                    3. Same benefits that any Kiwanian from a “traditional” club has
                    4. Member-organized service projects span many different interests including working with children, the elderly, and the homeless. We also perform AIDS outreach, sponsor community developments, and assist in relief efforts.
                    5. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a group of great people who share the same interest in becoming more involved in the community and having fun while doing so!!!

                    Membership Dues

                    Picture

Why pay to volunteer? A good question and we have the answers.
                    -Sense of Purpose
                    -Impact on the community
                    -Credibility as a young adult
                    -Recognition for your service
                    -Leadership opportunities
                    -Networking with young professionals

CAYP understand the needs of young professionals and that's why our dues are much lower than any other Kiwanis Club.   Dues vary depending on your former Kiwanis membership, but it can range from $0 to $125/year.   This payment includes international dues, district dues, and club dues.

If you were a Key Club, Kiwins, or Circle K members and are under 25, your first years of Kiwanis due is $0!
